"CORONA Karma"- China did karma, why do we suffer?

Updated: Nov 29, 2021

"Spirituality" is about you(Jiva), how you are connected to surrounding(Jagat) and how you are connected to the lord (Ishwara). Your connection with the Jagat (nature) doesn't happen in isolation. We all are tightly integrated (Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam) which Corona is evidence that something started in China has spread the entire world. The virus has not discriminated against any religion, faith, color, or economic status. The lack of correct spiritual understanding across the globe is the reason why we have not fully understood our connection with nature. The mindset today is that nature is an endless bounty and we have all the rights to exploit it. In this connected Jagat we can't say the mistake is done by our neighbor country China (which is yet to be proved) and why we are suffering. Are we as a society really so innocent? Another example is global warming, we can't say we have less industrialization compared to western countries then why we face global warming?

As per Bhagavad Gita, one has to face his/her sufferings as per his/her karmic account. The karmic account is not limited to your current birth only, it has been accumulated birth after birth. As per one's karma, he/she has to face his/her consequences and even supreme lord Krishna doesn't interfere in this. When the lord came as a human avatar he has demonstrated that even he had to face suffering. Today what we all have been facing the Corona crisis is based on our past karma.

Lord created this world in such a way that he has given free will to all living beings. Free will to human beings to live their life in their own way. Though he explained the ways of life in Bhagwat Gita like a standard operating procedure, he never enforced on us. That is why some people say, this person is doing so much cruelty, why God is not punishing him? China has done this, why lord is not punishing China for its karma?

There is no tit-for-tat policy. Sometimes there is immediate reciprocation of Karma, but most of the time it is not. We need to understand this from a spiritual framework.

As a human, the rules and regulations we can impose by creating strict laws and regulations, and as soon someone breaks the law you punish him. This way a sense of fear is created in the people's minds to keep them away from doing wrong things. This is the human way of imposing rules and regulations in society.

But God doesn’t want to create any sense of fear in our minds. His sole objective of creating this world is to give freedom to human beings so that each human, its spirit soul can live life to its fullest. He never wants to create any imposition on us or make any dictatorship. There is no tit-for-tat punishment or immediate punishment from God. Lord is so merciful that he keeps on giving us opportunity after opportunity to rectify and correct ourselves.

Nevertheless, God has his own way of bringing correction to this world. Whenever there is a social imbalance or too much wrongdoing, God will bring corrections to restore the equilibrium. This could be in the form of an earthquake, landslide, world war, or a deadly virus. We don’t know the past karma of a person so we can not say why such a dharmic person died of such a terrific accident or Covid death.

One may ask, I am doing Japa, puja, meditation doing all the pious activities, and I am still suffering from Covid crisis then why should I worship Lord?

In Bhagavad Gita, it is mentioned lord doesn't interfere in anyone's free will and his karmic reactions. So one has to suffer as per his or her past Karma. But by connecting with the lord one would be able to face the various turbulences and difficulties of life un-disturbed as a "Sthita-prangya". Just like a boat will be able to move un-disturbed in the ocean middle of a cyclone.
